Congratulations on Your Retirement

Richard Belt came to us here at the Lucy Idol Center in 2006, after retiring from Ford and looking for something to do. Richard became a driver for the center, but wait…he was not just a van driver that transported disabled individuals. This may have been his job description, but Richard Belt is so much more. His generous spirit was frequently demonstrated by his volunteer work.

It was common for Richard to stop in the office after his route in the morning to see what else he could help out with. He took care of rototilling of the Center's garden, running errands and many other things. Richard was also known around the Center as the “Candy man”. Every morning he greeted everyone with a big smile and warm welcome often followed by a Hershey's chocolate that was appreciated by everyone.

Richard’s wife Geraldine is also a supporter of the exceptional work Richard performed.  Together their supreme effort from chocolate and oranges to the monetary donations was coupled with their determination and the uncompromising quality of care and work. They have given not only to the clients but to the staff as well and are greatly appreciated and surely missed.

Thanks, Richard for showing your hospitality and making a huge impression on all of us here at the Center.  You and Geraldine are a special part of our success.
